Our slightly fuller fish model. Fits right between the Sandia and Sea Kitten, in terms of volume and performance. Wider throughout, with a bump in the tail to help tighten that turning radius a bit.

BEST FOR: The fish enthusiast who can’t get enough of that loose drive and flow. The Pogie is great for generating speed even in softer conditions and flatter sections, but isn't so wide that it can't tackle your local sand bar.

FIN: Futures twin fin boxes are standard on the Pogie.

Perfect Recipe

The Special Recipe was the logical choice; it's got plenty of volume, and reviews rave about it being fast and lively. So my board search ended here. A few weeks later, an oversized package arrived safe and sound on my New England doorstep, and ever since then, the way I look at my quiver has changed entirely. I will be back for more Almonds in the future.

Frothed is an understatement...

So I've been looking at Almond boards for quite some time and I finally picked up The Special Recipe Fish a couple weeks ago. I've grown up down in SoCal and I've always been on the hunt for something that is more suitable for the all around conditions that we see. I was never truly satisfied with any makes until I received this puppy. I got a 5'4 blue recipe and it has to be one of the greatest boards I've ever stepped foot on... The little twin setup is very responsive and quick down the line for easy fun rides. It's chest volume makes it easy to snag waves despite being shorter than myself. I am truly amped on my new magic carpet and can't thank the boys over at Almond enough!

Well, now I'm spoiled

Picked this board up in May, full of excitement and high expectations, as this is my first board from Almond. I had to spring for one as I've watched so many friends designate their Almonds as their go-to's. It has lived up to every hope and dream, and then some! This board is perfectly balanced both under the chest and under your feet, as well as speedy and playful down the line. None of us can pass up a good steep drop every now and then, but I really enjoy getting into waves early, and this board amazed me at how easily it paddles and glides for early entry (as mentioned by other reviewers). Of course, the Almond crew was easy to work with, very responsive and kind. Everyone is different, but at 6'1" and 180 lbs I sprung for the 5'10" model and it's been a blast. If you're hesitating - don't. You'll love it.

Great fish!

I love this board! It paddles with ease, gets you in early, but is quick as a flash down the line. You can push it on turns and it will hang with you. It is perfect for most every day I would want to surf in San Diego. I will also say that Almond was great during the process of designing a custom board. They kept me updated frequently on progress, with updates and pictures. I highly recommend this board if you are looking for a versatile fish!
