More Pleasant than eating Pheasant

Not sure how I managed to be the first to review this board as I know others have ridden it and loved it. I am usually not a fan of "one quiver board or of anything that can do lots of things okay, but not anything great", but this board would be my exception. I ride this in waves that I take the time to surf, which is 2-6 ft. It works well on the small waves in that it has enough float and momentum to get you in and is quick enough on the larger days to make want to yip and yew. I am 6'5'' and weight in at 200 lbs; aka string bean. My board is 6'6'' and I wouldn't change the size one bit. What is the down side of this board? I guess that would only be that it keeps me entertained enough to not want to buy more Almond boards...

The Plez Phez is a board you need to own

I have had this board for almost 2 years now, and I can say it’s amazing to ride. I’m 6’, 200lbs, and 45 years young. My P Pheasant is 6’6” and I have surfed it all over S. California and most recently over seas on a trip to Tavarua. The board works great in 3-6’ local Newport/Huntington beach breaks, but really excels on a point break like trestles or up in Rincon/Malibu. It has great drive and turns on a dime for its size and fin setup. I have had it in bigger surf now at Cloudbreak and Wilks, 8-10’ faces, and the board performed flawlessly. I don’t know how it handles over that size, as I don’t surf above double over head anymore but I’m guessing it would still hold. The 6’6” is still able to duck dive just fine, but you are able to paddle it like a long board. Fast, fun and super responsive. Do yourself a favor and go get one.

Fun Fun on the Pleasant Pheasant

I have had this board for over a year now and it is incredibly versatile. From two foot crumbley waves to 5 foot beach break- it handles great! Having the option to ride it as a single fin or with the side bite fins is also a huge plus for me. I would definitely recommend this board to all levels of surfers. It also comes in great colors!

Excellent Board - Frustrating ordering experience - Happy overall

I finally got to surf my 6'6 Pleasant Pheasant and it was super fun on a big slower point break and smaller hollow beach break so far. They also did a great job on the color and nautical chart print. My only complaint was with the ordering process. After 12 weeks of waiting I called the shop to check on my board (even though the website says not to, and that they will call when it is done). I was told it would be in the shipment coming that week. After waiting another 2 weeks, I called and was told the same thing. 18 weeks after initially ordering I was notified that it was done and I could pick it up. I drove down and picked it up and the sticker on the board had big red writing that said "RUSH ORDER." The writing on the board made me think that maybe my order got lost or misplaced causing the delay, but I was not informed. The guy in the shop was quite pleasant when I picked up the board and offered a mug for the inconvenience, which was an appreciated gesture. I love the board, it is gorgeous, functional and what I wanted. I would definitely buy another board from Almond but I would probably get one off the rack after the experience.
