Risk vs huge reward

During a couple of trips to So Cal from Australia over the last few years I’d always check out local surfboard brands... and when I started looking into Almond a bit more I really got inspired by the story and the products, and the overall cool aesthetic of the brand. So when it came time to find a new board mid last year I looked up and down the Queensland and New South Wales coast in every surf shop, trying to get inspired for something new and a bit different. That’s when I reached out to Almond to see what the chances were of choosing an Almond and shipping it down under. I did my reasearch, got in touch with the guys, picked an avocado green 9’4 Sano Special, and had it sent over. The first thing I noticed is the board is heavy, but heavy in a really good quality way. It’s perfect for the points and fast enough for the beach breaks to now be the only board I ride in all conditions. Thanks Jeffery and Dave, can’t wait to get my next Almond.

Solid solid board

After getting my gf her first board from Almond (living vicariously) I managed to snag one of my own: a used 9'6" sano special. This thing is amazing to ride all around san Clemente and beyond: paddles like a dream at Old Mans, noserides all over Trails, and eats any longboard wave you throw at it. Great to walk, carve, and just plain fun in the water. Flatter rocker makes it feel a little less forgiving but you'll catch a ton of waves and have a rad time surfing them. A+++ my go to board down here now
