The Antidote to Brain Rot

I've been thinking about how absurd it is that we even need a term like this... But here we are.
If you’re not familiar, brain rot is a term kids use to describe:
“A perceived loss of intelligence or critical thinking skills, especially on account of the overconsumption of unchallenging or frivolous content posted online.”
Gut punch.
This is just a reminder to regularly engage with things that command your full attention.
- To operate in the present.
- To push back against the pull of endless scrolling.
- To choose engagement over escapism.
And if this sounds preachy, know that I’m mostly talking to myself here. As my friend Chris from Code of the West put it recently:
“This is just me reminding myself out-loud in front of 161k people.”
So—consider this your reminder too: Engage with the real stuff of life.
Chop wood. Ride a wave. Build something. Share a meal.
Anything that makes your brain work and your spirit wake up.
