Thank You! (Grand Reopening Recap)
Yesterday was everything I (and the team) could have hoped for.
We kicked off the morning with a gathering of the Early & Often Surf Club. The waves were tiny and the water was unusually frigid for this time of year—and in spite of it a whole bunch of you padded out with us anyway.
Then we opened our doors and welcomed the community back in to the reimagined Almond Surf Shop—which was a true delight to share with you all.
It was so much fun hearing all of your guys' feedback on the space. Apparently everyone really loves the floors.
We will be sharing more photos of the shop—inside & out—soon, and there will be a whole bunch of folks to specifically thank for their contributions toward helping us build essentially a brand new shop.
At noon, Scott Andrews of Burger Wednesday fired up the classic charcoal weber grill to bring back one of Costa Mesa's greatest mid-week lunch traditions. 🌊🍔 Get yourself a best friend like Scotty—but don't take this one, you gotta find your own.
By the late afternoon, I was sunburned and incredibly thankful. It's great to be back.
We are forever grateful for the level of support that we receive from our community, but speaking specifically to yesterday's events, I want to thank our team for all the hours they have poured in to making the opening possible: Brandon Waller, Erica Swanson, Jake Lutz, Jeffrey Allee, Megan Goodman, Griffin Neumann-Kyle, and the team at Waterman's Guild for rushing through some fresh stock boards to keep our racks looking full. Stay tuned for another long list of thank you's to accompany the new shop photos in the coming days.
Also, because I know this will be the next most common question... we're announcing the winner of the Custom Surfboard Raffle on Monday at 4:00 pm.
