What is the Porsche Pink Pig?
If you're not intimately familiar with the Porsche racing history from the early 1970's then the Pink Pig livery may be unfamiliar to you (it was to me before this year) but for those steeped in the rich history of Porsche and its race cars, the Pink Pig is as well-known as it is instantly recognizable.
The Pink Pig racing livery is one of Porsche’s most iconic designs, despite its unusual origins. Debuting at the 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Porsche 917/20 sported a unique look inspired by butcher's cuts, with pink flesh-like paint, earning it the nickname "Pink Pig." Though the car didn’t win the race, its bold design captured attention and has since become a fan favorite. The 917/20, a one-off prototype, only raced once, but its legacy endures today in motorsport history, with its design appearing in modern revivals and heritage events.
As a nod to the racing history of Porsche, we brought back this famous livery for our collection of limited edition surfboards for 2024.
