Made in USA
I know that USA-Made is a trend right now in our youthful, idealistic microcosm of the world. Friends from Vans to Target (and everywhere in between) are talking about the value of #madeinUSA products. So, I started to wonder if this trend was having an impact in the economy as a whole, or if it was limited to a few small to medium sized brands. After a few minutes on the #googlemachine, it was pretty clear what the answer is. Our trade deficit with China is at an all-time high, meaning the volume we are importing from China is at an all time high in comparison to the volume we are exporting to China.
According to the March 2015 I read on Fortune, U.S. Exports in February grew by 0.9% but imports grew by a staggering 7.7%. And according to a 2013 article by Forbes, we buy 4x more stuff from China, than we sell as a country.
I'm not saying what's right or wrong, but in case you were wondering how much of an impact the trend of USA-made products is having, there's your answer.
