Recently we were tasked with building a custom board for the lobby of La Bahia Hotel in Santa Cruz. They wanted something that borrowed some design notes from the historic bell tower tiles, a marquee of their property. With the help of Wyatt Hersey we cooked up a pretty rad looking board for them.
But because we already had some rad new artwork developed for them, we started thinking through some other places where that art could live. (The beauty of any collaboration is finding the sweet spot where both brand can co-exist.) And while we are best known for building custom surfboards, its far from the only category we touch.
So we pitched them a small merch capsule for their gift shop, based on their new custom surfboard.
Building custom surfboards is our first love, but being able to tie it together with a small collection or capsule adds a whole other layer of fun to the process, and hopefully strengthens the final outcome.
