Introducing: The Almond Performance Twin

·We want to give you a sneak peak at a new model we are developing. It's a performance-driven twin fin; and it's a little different from the boards you have likely come to expect from us.
Almond's Performance Twin: What is it? Why did we make it? How should it be surfed?
As we discuss in our Intro to Surfboards Guide, everything in surfboard design is give-and-take. While many of our more full-templated board models have the added paddle-power and glide to take advantage of softer waves, we haven't historically pressed as deeply into the realm of building boards for truly pumping surf.
As we started dreaming up this board, we wanted to create something that would feel familiar to the most dedicated Almond fans, while also pushing the limits of the kinds of waves that this board would excel in.
With that, we're very pleased to introduce the all new Performance Twin.
This board features more rocker than many of our other models. With the added rocker, the board is able to fit easier into the curvature of a steeper faced wave—and more critical pocket.
We also added a channel off the swallow, to create additional drive. This allows the surfer to explore different parts of the wave face and carve back down the wave in a more radical manner, or in other words, "hit the lip".
It can drive down the line, make steep drops and surf in more critical conditions.
Combining the steeper curvature of a more performance based board with a twin fin, known for drive and speed, we are entering a beautiful harmonic relationship. Note, different boards are meant for different conditions, so there is a time and a place for each model in your "Three Board Quiver". This is simply adding a category that Almond previously hasn't dove deep into; the steeper and hollow wave board.
If you are a surfer who is used to riding thrusters but curious as to a point of difference that is on the other side of the pasture, this board is for you. If you are a middle aged man who isn't quite willing to give up "ripping" but constantly struggling on your normal shortboard, this board is for you.
We are still putting this board through the paces, and it isn't available for purchase yet. We just wanted to give you a sneak peak at something new we are cooking up.
