Our Most Versatile Mid-Length
Versatility in a surfboard means being able to cover a wide variety of conditions and surf approaches.
You are looking for maximum versatility because either:
- You want a board that can excel in a wide variety of waves
- Or you want a board that can do a lot of things well.
In either instance, you should focus your search around a well-built mid-sized board. And as much as we love, love, love the Pleasant Pheasant around here... if I had to pick one board from our range that covers the most needs, it's the Joy.
The Joy has impeccable glide, feeling much more like a longer board in the way that it paddles and picks up speed on the wave, with little effort from the rider.
And the sweeping curves of the tail outline make putting the board on rail for arcing turns fairly effortless.
It's enough board to catch smaller waves, but it's also reasonably adept at catching larger waves because of its early-wave-catching potential and the reliability of the pintail holding tight in the pocket.
Caveat: different people have different images that come to mind when you say "bigger waves" for the purposes of this conversation, let's call it head high surf.
Whether you are stepping down from a longboard or foamie and wanting something with more performance or you're a life long short-order that isn't ready to commit to a log, but wants something longer for surfing smaller waves, take a close look at the Joy model. It's as highly rated and popular as anything we build, and for good reason.
