The Best Fin Setups for Wake Surfing
·
·
One hard and fast rule about wake surfing is... you don't need nearly as much "fin" as you do in the Ocean.
The speeds are higher, and the forces are more linear, so it takes less surface area to do the job.
Anytime you are taking your surf equipment to a wake, look for a way to reduce your fin area.
For example:
- 5'4 Menu: we recommend these finlettes in the back boxes
- 6'4 Pheasant: we recommend removing the center fin and running it as a twin. (side bites only)
- Longboards: choose a rakey fin like the Pin Fin, rather than a larger surface-area fin like the Huck or Log Rhythm.
