For the first decade of Almond, every surfboard we built was shaped, glassed, sanded, and finished by hand.
We love building custom surfboards that way, but glassing is also the most time-consuming and labor-intensive part of the process.
When we started working on the R-Series, the idea was pretty simple: could we take some of our favorite surfboard models and build them in a more user-friendly, price-point-friendly way, without losing the things that made those boards work in the first place?
We went to great lengths to reproduce the rails, rocker, bottom contours, and fin setups from our custom boards. The result is a molded, waterproof surfboard that's durable, requires no wax, and is remarkably easy to own.
All with the goal of making it ride as much like an Almond Surfboard as possible.
