Inside the Process: Porsche × Almond

The most rewarding brand collaborations are the ones where both sides show up ready to bring their best—and open to building something new together.
When we teamed up with Porsche, the goal was simple: create a collection that celebrated the shared values between our two brands—timeless design, thoughtful craftsmanship, and a healthy dose of warm, sun-soaked nostalgia. We called it Single Fins & Air-Cooled Engines.
Our first release, which launched in October 2024, took inspiration from the 1960s—a defining era for both surf culture and the introduction of the 911. We selected classic colorways from Porsche’s archive and paired them with surfboard designs that felt era-appropriate and true to Almond’s DNA. The result was a collection that felt nostalgic, but not retro—familiar, but still fresh.
Fast forward to the second chapter of the collaboration, which just launched. This time, we looked to the early 1970s and the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 for inspiration. The RS 2.7 is a legendary car—lightweight, performance-driven, and unmistakably iconic with its bold Carrera side stripe. It gave us a new energy to build around.
We shaped a new board model specifically for this collection, incorporating subtle design cues drawn from the RS 2.7. The overall tone of the collection leaned more toward performance and refinement, while still carrying that laid-back California feel that anchors everything we do.
The boards are available now, both in our Costa Mesa surf shop and through Porsche’s online store. Each board in the series is made-to-order and individually numbered—1 through 72, in reference to the year 1972 when the RS 2.7 was introduced.
Great collaborations aren’t about compromise—they’re about alignment. The best results come when both teams bring their strengths to the table, listen well, and work toward something that neither could’ve built alone. It takes mutual trust, a shared sense of purpose, and a willingness to leave room for surprise. We tried to approach this second Porsche collection with those principles in mind—and we’ll let you be the judge of how we did.
If you're a fan of surfboards, sports cars, or just thoughtful design, we hope this collection gives you something to appreciate.
The collection is available via shop.porsche.com and in our brick and mortar shop in Costa Mesa, CA (for a limited time).
