California Almonds x Almond Surfboards

For nearly 20 years, we've been answering the same question:

"Why is a surfboard company called Almond?"

The short answer is that we borrowed the name from the almond tree—a crop that has been deeply tied to California for generations.

So when the Almond Board of California reached out about collaborating, we were delighted.

As it turns out, California produces roughly 80% of the world's almonds, making them one of the state's most important agricultural exports. More than 90% of California almond farms are family-owned, many passed down through multiple generations.

As a company rooted in California, we've always appreciated the state's unique mix of agriculture, craftsmanship, and coastal culture. This collaboration felt like a natural way to celebrate all three.

The project was created in recognition of National California Day and highlights a shared appreciation for the people, places, and traditions that make California special.

Working with the Almond Board on this project felt a little bit like a full-circle moment. The name Almond has been part of our identity since the beginning, but this is the first time we've had the opportunity to collaborate with the people behind the real California Almonds.

For us, this collaboration felt long overdue.
