Board of the Week | 7/17/23
For the first time ever, this week's Board of the Week is from the used rack.
We recently broke out our used boards from the new ones on the website. So if you're wondering where all the second-hand surfboards are, here's the new page for that.
This writeup comes from the Saturday Shop Crew, Kyle and Brandon...
The board we chose to be put in the spotlight this week is this USED 9’6 Lumberjack.
The Lumberjack is the staple of tradition, with its dimensions directly rooted in 60s era longboards which at the time, were the peak of surfing performance.
The goal when creating The Lumberjack was to replicate the same glide and stability that traditional longboards provide, while ushering in specifications for the modern demand. With little effort, this board can be walked on like a carpet while also permitting fast and controlled pivot turns.
If you are looking for a traditional style noserider, with classic design, that can perform in almost any wave shape or height, then the Lumberjack may be your board.
Why This 9’6” Lumberjack?
We wanted to highlight this board for multiple reasons... The first (and our favorite), is the glassed-in Log Rhythm fin. As previously stated, one of the goals for the lumberjack was to replicate tradition. This idea is further heightened with this board’s glassed-in fin, providing a classic cosmetic appeal that a fin box simply cannot accomplish.
The second reason is this lumberjack sits right in the sweet spot of maneuverability at 9’6”, but the extra volume will allow this specific board to enter waves even earlier, and hopefully—and hopefully more often.
Lastly, this board made it into our hands used but in fantastic condition. Every board we build it done so with longevity in mind. Even though this board is used, it still have many, many years of usefulness ahead.
