Comparing the Secret Menu to the R-Series Secret Menu
Last year, we introduced the first installment of a series of foam surfboards that we dubbed the R-Series.
The idea being that the R-Series was a new construction of some of your favorite shapes and models from Almond.
The 5'4 Secret Menu has been our most popular sub-six-foot board model for about 7 consecutive years, so we figured what better place to start than to prove the concept on our most popular "short" board model.
How similar is the R-Series 5'4 Secret Menu to the PU + Fiberglass version we've been shaping and riding since 2011? ...about as close as humanly possible.
We beefed up the volume to accommodate the construction, and to ensure that this board would paddle exceptionally well, but otherwise we didn't change a thing about the shape, outline, rails, bottom contour, or fin setup.
Historically, a 5'4 Secret Menu runs about 32 liters. The R-Series version comes in at 36.4 liters, but other than that, we kept the shape identical.
