For the Joy of Surfing

Whether you prefer to call surfing a sport, a lifestyle, or a dance, one thing is for certain... riding ocean waves is done for the pure enjoyment of it.
Waves are breaking on beaches all over the world, and every once in a while the right combination of conditions lines up where we get to paddle out on a board and harness the energy of one of those waves for a free ride down the beach.
It's easy to get hung up on surfing "well" or doing certain tricks, but the simple act of riding a wave from before it starts to break all the way into where it ends on shore is pretty darn special.
In order to do that as often as possible, we shape different boards for different conditions.
Some boards are great for paddling and effortless glide.
Other boards give you, the rider, maximum control over the board under your feet so you can navigate more critical waves and sections.
Other boards try to blend the perfect combination of effortless glide with a lively feel—to give you the optimal blend of speed and control.
I've said this a zillion times, but the beauty of surfboard design is everything is give and take, and our job as surfboard builders is to combine different curves, rockers, contours, channels, wings, and fin set ups to make every board excel at a slightly different feeling or condition.
And yet for alllllllll of the complicated elements, features and constructions, sometimes the simplest solution is still the best solution.
Enter: the Joy model.
You could argue that the Joy is as simple as it gets—which is why it's so dearly loved.
In terms of it's length, it fits squarely in the middle of our offering (the sweet spot being 7'4 to 8'0)
The elliptical outline gives you a generous blend of glide and smooth turning.
The pintail works great in softer waves, but won't let you down through steeper sections.
The single fin gives you control, drive, and the ability to do arcing turns.
If you are the kind of surfer who appreciates beautiful simplicity, the Joy might be calling your name. Appropriate for a wide range of conditions. A great paddler that catches waves early.
If your surf routine needs some consistency and dependability in it, take a good long look at the Joy.
