Everything You Need to Know About Mid-Lengths
Are you a die-hard mid-length advocate?
Are you a skeptic who still needs to be convinced?
Are you looking to add a versatile mid-sized board to your quiver?
Or perhaps you want to try your hand at shaping your own DIY mid-length.
Whatever your relationship is with the 6'4 to 8'11 range of wave-riding water crafts is, we're here for you.
For starters, and to get a better look at where a mid-length might fit into your quiver, read Almond's Complete Guide to Mid-Lengths:
When you are finished with that, settle in to the sights and sounds of this short edit of Nathan Adams riding an 8'2 Cash-Yew II and a 9'9 Logistic.
If you only want to watch the 8'2 part, skip ahead to 1:30, but we recommend watching the whole thing:

At this point you're likely in one of two camps:
- "I'm a mid-length believer!"
- "I still need some convincing"
If you still need some convincing, our shop manager Cole wrote this article titled: "My Mid-Length Crisis" or you can try reading reviews from surfers who aren't on the payroll.
A well-made mid-length fits nicely between the freedom of movement of a small board and the reliable glide and stability of a longboard.
For the Mid-Length Believers, we have all sorts of ways to help you get more enjoyment out of your time in the water. The most obvious, is you can check our racks for the new or used mid-length of your dreams—and get to riding it straight away.
Or, you can inquire about a custom order. Currently, we have 5 unique mid-length models in our rotation.

If you are a bit intimidated to try shaping for the first time, we put together another free resource for you... it's called Almond's Guide to Shaping Your First Surfboard. And it's, well, our advice to the first-time DIY surfboard shaper about how to approach a project of this scale.
You can get that guide here:
If you are looking for an easy entrance into the world of mid-sized boards, we offer our two most popular mid-length models (the Joy and the Pleasant Pheasant) in our R-Series foamie construction. Those boards are made in the USA, recyclable, and about half the price of our custom surfboards.
We made this compare and contrast to help answer the common question "which R-Series should I get?"
If you’ve never spent significant time on a mid-length, but are curious about them, my advice is very simple:
get a mid-length and surf it a bunch. You'll be happy you did.
