Make surfing easier on yourself by gliding into waves earlier. 

Catching a wave early in its formation is like rolling down a driveway on a skateboard—pretty manageable.  Taking off late is like trying get to your feet and drop in on a quarter-pipe, all in one motion.

Once you're up and riding, it is up to you where you want to take your surfing.  Whether the goal is three turns to the beach or one good, long noseride, the gatekeeper to success is always going to be a healthy wave-count.
